Mavic finally recalls R-sys wheels

After dozens of stories and pictures of R-SYS wheels failing catastrophically, Mavic has decided to recall the R-Sys front wheel. The problem seems to lie in the design of the carbon tubular spokes, according to the recall:

"Mavic has identified that the carbon tubular spokes of the R-SYS front wheel may break during use in certain circumstances and causing the rider to lose control and possibly fall, potentially sustaining injury."

Mavic is offering to exchange your faulty R-SYS wheel for a "new upgraded" one. The catch is that this exchange will only start on March 31, 2009. Until then, Mavic will provide you with an Aksium front wheel, which you may keep after recieving your replacement R-SYS.

Find out more about the recall here.
